Hello, and thanks for checking out the class website! I’m very excited to start the school year.
Let me give a brief introduction about myself. My name is Mr. Laitio, but you can call me Mr. L for short. I’m actually new to San Diego county, but before this I lived all my life in LA. I went to UC Irvine for my undergad (Zot!Zot!), where I earned a BA in History.
After UCI, I went to USC (Fight On!) for my MA. I just graduated from that program earlier in 2012, so this is actually my first teaching job! With that being said, I’ve had a lot of experience working in the classroom. I’ve obviously student taught, but also I worked as a writing instructor and TA in various classrooms during my college days. . .oh so long ago!
Outside of school, I enjoy staying active. Basketball is my favorite sport to play and being from LA, I bleed purple and gold. Most sports really interest me, so I’m always trying to watch games.
I enjoy reading (Hemingway is my favorite author), but I’m also trying to fight off an addiction to Netflix Instant Streaming. It can get difficult to stray away from the internet/video games, but there really is a wild world out there waiting to be explored. I’ve only been to a few places outside of California, but any journey is worth the experience.
